To format a device

1. On the File menu, point to CDs and Devices, and then click Synchronize.
2. In the Items on Device pane (the right side of Sync), in the drop-down list, click the device that you want to format, and then click the Format storage media button .

 Caution

• Formatting erases all data on the device.

Notes

• It may not be possible to use the Player to format every device. For more information, see the documentation that came with your device.
• The Items on Device pane (the right side of Sync) typically refreshes automatically when you connect a device to your computer, when you disconnect a device from your computer, or when you insert or remove storage media from a connected device. If the display does not refresh automatically, you can press F5 to refresh the display manually.
• You can also use this procedure to format storage media that you insert into a device.
